I’ve been busy lately, since posting I have started my degree (electronic engineering) and haven’t had as much time to focus on my own programming projects.
My last post was on Obsidian and Syncthing, which has been tremendously helpful to sync my notes between my phone and laptop. I don’t take lecture notes on my phone, but everything else transfers and it’s still useful to refer to them.
Photography
This has always been one of my interests, but I’ve never shared anything on my blog. Since my Google Photos storage got full, I decided to ditch it for Immich which is one of the best self hosted apps out there. Much more reliable than Nextcloud!
My favourite feature is the ability to share albums very easily with custom URLs. I plan to write about setting this up with a Hetzner storage box at some point.
In terms of gear, I am most likely going to purchase the Fujifilm XT30 III which is coming out in about a month’s time. I won’t be doing any sort of review of it, but I will share my experience (and the photos) once I’ve spent some time with it.
Programming
Aside from the things I mentioned earlier, I haven’t made any real progress on anything. I spend a lot of time working in C#, which I would like to use with Godot at some point.
For embedded programming in electronics engineering, I am using C++ for an STM32 board (Nucleo G071RB). This is using the ARM Mbed platform, which is dead by now – the sites will be archived in July 2026. Ideally I would use an Arduino or Pi Pico for my own future projects.
This blog
For the past year or so the plan has been to try and post once a month, generally whenever I think of something I write it down in one go and upload it. A couple posts have been written over a longer period, but I have gotten bored of some of them. I want to try and write some more specific posts for this site, mainly on programming projects or photography trips.
